Black Sheep Restaurants

Black Sheep Restaurants (BSR) is a Hong Kong-based hospitality team founded in 2012. With 24 established restaurants, Black Sheep Restaurants curates distinct dining experiences that tell a story about a particular time, place, culture or cuisine, while celebrating the bounty of premium ingredients available both locally and from abroad. Always pushing boundaries, the group continues to expand rapidly within Hong Kong and beyond.

The ideas behind the work during the time spent with BSR depict a knack for adaptability. They had to be brand specific, memorable and fun.

Although I managed fourteen of their diverse accounts, the following graphics are my authentic, tangible deliverables.

 
 

FERNET BRANCA COIN
Ideation | Art Direction | Graphic Design

The coin originated in 2010 as a small medallion that signifies belonging to an organisation. When shown to another bartender, Fernet Branca challenge coins operate like a secret handshake.

Mutual acknowledgement, a sense of common belonging and a desire to be important members of the Fernet-Branca family is what defines the value of these coins. The give and exchange of these coins has turned into a game with rules that can be explored on the brand’s official website.

Buenos Aires Polo Club of BSR takes pride in serving drinks with Fernet Branca as one of the main ingredients.

Through (their) this recognition, I had the opportunity to participate and out of over 400 submissions, my design for the coin won the challenge for Hong Kong in 2017.

I had freedom to explore any direction with a few requirements: [ i ] Incorporate the key elements that symbolise, the brand: Fernet Branca. [ ii ] Include the year of the challenge. [ iii ] Illustrate a vision of Hong Kong and how the city inspires you.

These were very basic and simple, which is what made it a challenge.

BURGER CIRCUS
Re-branding | Graphic Design | Social Media Direction

Burger Circus’s initial branding consisted of vintage poster images (jpegs) of characters from a circus. The challenge was to recreate a brand direction that while maintaining the playfulness, also catered to an audience that was both kid and family-friendly. The restaurant’s food and ambiance are energetic and upbeat; the aim was to deliver just that.

NEW PUNJAB CLUB

During New Punjab Club’s anticipation period, the soft opening’s invitations were sent out with a box full of fresh Pakistani mangoes. The brief was to create something vibrant, yet chic.
